Can you remember the last time you had a sloppy joe? I can’t… until my friend Stef told me about a whole 30 sloppy joe recipe… and it. is. good. Kind makes you feel like a kid again 🙂

The recipe is heavily adopted from PhysicalKitcheness, but I have tweaked it a bit and I really like this recipe.

I eat this with a side salad or roasted veggies; but you could pair it with gluten-free bread as an open-faced sandwich, the russet potato as they recommend, or better yet on top of a sweet potato.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

  1. 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  2. 1/2 white onion, chopped
  3. 8 oz tomato sauce
  4. 1 tbsp tomato paste
  5. 1.50 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
  6. 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  7. 1-2 garlic cloves, minced
  8. 1/2 tsp parsley
  9. 1/2 tsp salt


  1. Brown the ground beef in a large pan over medium/high heat and add the onion. Drain any excess grease
  2. Reduce the heat to medium and add apple cider vinegar, dijon mustard, garlic, dried parsley, and salt. Mix well
  3. Serve sloppy joe mixture on top of baked russet potato and garnish with green onions
