Here are 5 simple tips to strengthen your mind and keep you focused on your goals!
Make a commitment to yourself that you will achieve your goal AND write it down! It can be anything that you want to achieve, health related or not… make a smart goal, set a goal date, commit and write it down.
S.M.A.R.T. GOAL = Simple. Measurable. Attainable. Realistic. Timely.
Tip: Set reminders on your phone, put sticky notes up around the house or in your car, whatever works to remind you of your goal and the commitment date!
Forget the past. Forget yesterday.
Let go of disappointment. Let go of regret.
Today is a new day to be better than yesterday.
This will help you maintain a good mindset, practice self compassion and focus on the future vs. beating yourself up, mentally, over the past.
Don’t miss out on what lies ahead because you’re sulking in the past behind you.
This is the act of embracing A Growth Mindset vs. a Fixed Mindset. Learn something new, study something that interests you or explore a new hobby. Pick a book, podcast, or blog to read or listen to regularly.
I don’t have a ton of time to read, so I use audible to listen to books on the go. This is one of my daily habits to improving myself and continuously learning.
Here are a few of my personal favorites:
Books: You Are A Badass, The Big Leap, Loving What Is, Mind Gym, and #Girlboss
The act of meditation will allow you to calm the mind down and relax. It allows you to create space, and be present in the moment. I used to think it was a bunch of crap…but meditation is very powerful.
There are several guided meditations you can do, as well as several apps that will help you practice meditating. Meditation can be anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour depending on upon your schedule.
Tip: set an alarm on your phone for 5 minutes after you should finish meditating, just in case you fall asleep 🙂 This has happened to me before.
This can be a list of things you want to learn or study, new hobbies you want to explore, or simply a to-do list that will help take your mind off of the things that are distracting you from progressing towards your goal!
Think of this as swapping a bad habit for a good habit… i.e. instead of having a glass of wine after work, go for a walk or find a fun activity to do to distract yourself from that habit.
Tip: If your goal is weight loss related – create a list of hobbies or tasks you can do when you get the urge to eat when you are bored or are craving something you shouldn’t have.
Cheers to strengthening your mind and progressing towards your goals! Every day is a new day to be better than yesterday, embrace the journey and love yourself – the journey is a continuous process, not an overnight fix.
I would love to hear from you if any of these help you, or if you have found something additional that helps you stay in a good mindset! 🙂
